AutoCAD Technician – Internship
L.S. Grim Consulting Engineers, Inc. is currently seeking an Intern preparing for a future as an AutoCAD Operator and/or Construction Industry Professional to work in our Hagerstown, Maryland office location. This is a paid position. Wage will be based on the current level of skill, proficiency of the skills and industry knowledge.
Internship Goals and Responsibilities (under directed supervision):
Learn to prepare M.E.P. drawings under the direction of Project Lead Designer(s) and Supervisor
Create sketches & fabrication drawings, documenting As-builts
Assist in producing accurate drawing index logs, valve list, equipment lists and the like.
Learn to interpret Architectural, Electrical, Plumbing, and Mechanical drawings and collaborate with field construction
Assist Project Leads with printing and plotting of drawing sheets and spool Drawings Monday-Friday with occasional overtime during afternoons or evenings as needed
Other projects and skill development as decided and discussed in advance with candidate and Design Supervisor
AutoCAD experience, proficient in basic commands
Must have great attention to detail to ensure accuracy
Use of sound judgment and problem-solving ability to assist in design processes
Ability to effectively work individually and in a team environment
Assertive and resourceful; motivated; willing to ask questions
Strong work ethic; diplomatic; team- and service-oriented
Demonstrate professional demeanor, appearance, and attitude daily
1 year of AutoCad training or similar construction industry software training. Enrolled in a Certification program, pursuing an accredited Degree or professional qualification primarily focused on the field of Construction and/or Engineering. Experience interpreting and utilizing field survey data/design plans/as-builts for the purpose of compiling detailed engineering documents.
Prior experience in the construction industry and understanding of construction documents.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other common computer software.
